Getting started

What is Double Yellow?

Double Yellow is the drift league hub for CarX Drift Racing Online: one home for the teams, leagues and competitions in the CarX drift community. Teams run their own series and pop-up nights here, with their own judges, house rules and Discord spaces, and drivers from any team can find them, build for them and enter.

Everything off the track lives here:

  • Your driver profile: your gamer tag, car number, team, badges, streak and full race history, carried with you to every competition on the hub.
  • Your garage and spec boards: every car you build, and the spec board you enter each event with.
  • Events: series and pop-up nights from every team, with the track, the lines and the CarX lobby details for everyone entered.
  • Teams: join one, start one, or run your own competitions with your own judges and house rules.
  • Results: points, standings and head-to-head records that build up every time you race.

It's cross-play, so PlayStation, Xbox and PC drivers all race together, and it runs alongside our Discord, where every competition's drivers and judges get their own private spaces. Double Yellow runs competitions of its own too, like the free-to-enter Double Yellow Street League, but the hub is for every team and every league.

Does it cost anything?

No. Every driver is on Street, the free plan: make a profile, join a team, keep up to 5 cars in your garage, enter Bronze and Silver events, and climb the standings. Every team is on Street Host, the free way to host: your team earns a free pop-up night every 12 team points and a free series every 48.

Double Yellow Plus adds paid plans: Plus Touge and Plus Pro give drivers a bigger garage and the Gold and Platinum tiers, and Pop-up Plus, Series Plus and Host Plus let teams host more. You'll never need a plan to race. See every plan and price on Plans.

Can I use Double Yellow like an app on my phone?

Yes. Add the site to your home screen and it opens like an app, in its own window, straight to your page. It keeps you logged in, so you don't have to log in with Discord again every time you open a link.

  • iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap the Share button (on newer iPhones it's in the ⋯ menu), then choose Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: open the site in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then choose Add to Home screen (some phones call it Install app).

If you opened a link inside the Discord app, open it in Safari or Chrome first. Discord's built-in browser can't add sites to your home screen. The first time you open the app, log in once and it remembers you.

If I cancel my Double Yellow Plus plan, will I get a refund?

When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of that calendar month, and then it ends.

  • Monthly plans: the month you cancel in is already paid for, so there's no refund.
  • Yearly plans: you get your money back for every month left in your year. For example, if you cancel 4 months in, you get 8 months back.

Either way, your cars, badges and race history stay on your profile.

What's a Legacy Driver?

Once the host plans are available for purchase, team owners who buy yearly Host Plus within the first two months become Legacy Owners. Their price stays locked for as long as they keep the plan, and a Legacy Owner tag appears on their team page and driver card.

Every driver on a Legacy Owner's team during those first two months gets a Legacy Driver tag on their driver card, free of charge, and keeps it even after changing teams. Drivers who join after the first two months don't receive the tag, and if the owner's plan ends, the team's Legacy tags end with it.

How do I sign up?
  • Log in with Discord: use the same account you use in the Double Yellow Discord server.
  • Make your profile: add your gamer tag, platform, controller or wheel, region and team.
  • Get approved: Mantis reviews every new profile, and you'll get a notice as soon as yours is approved.
  • Build your spec boards: one for the car you'll race in each event.
  • Enter events: sign up for a round or pop-up night, then be there for roll-through.
What's a gamer tag, and why do you need it?

Your gamer tag is the name shown over your car in CarX, on any platform. It's printed on your driver card and spec boards so judges and other drivers can match you to your car in the lobby.

Why can't I see the drivers, teams or standings?

Most of the site is for members only. Anyone can view the schedule and events; log in with Discord to see everything else.

Cars and spec boards

What's a spec board?

It's your car's entry sheet for an event: the car, its build and tune, and in-game photos (front, side, back and close-ups of the stickers) so the whole livery shows. Every event sets its own spec limits, and the site tells you straight away if a build is outside them and why.

What's the garage?

Every car you have, in one place: competition cars built to an event's specs, and comfort cars built however you like. Street, the free plan, holds 5 cars; Plus Touge holds 20 and Plus Pro 40 (see Plans). Delete one you don't drive anymore to make room.

Every comfort car gets its own spec board on the Double Yellow theme, just like a competition car: save it with an in-game photo and your car is put into the scene. No review needed, so it's on your driver page under My garage straight away.

Can I earn more room in my garage?

Yes, two ways, on top of whatever plan you have:

  • Your team is on Host Plus: every driver on the team gets 5 more slots while the team's owner keeps Host Plus, monthly or yearly.
  • Achievements: every badge you take to Gold adds 2 slots, and Platinum adds 3 more. Hat Trick and Perfect Series add 2 each. Achievements can add up to 10 slots in all.

Your garage shows where each extra slot comes from.

Who approves my spec board?

Whoever runs the event approves it. You'll get a notice when it's approved, or a note saying what to change.

How do I find out about new events?

When a pop-up night or a new series goes on the schedule, every driver who can enter it gets a notice on their page: drivers at its tier, and drivers one tier below it, who are asked if they're ready to level up. Events you can't enter aren't sent to you. If any car in your garage fits the event's spec limits, the notice names it, and tapping it takes you straight to making your spec card for that event.

Events and race nights

What's the difference between a series and a pop-up night?

A series is a run of rounds with its own car limits, spec board deadline and standings. A pop-up night is a one-off with its own spec limits. Every pop-up is posted at least 2 days before it starts, so you always have time to build a spec board for it. Both are on the Events page, and every date is on the schedule in your own time zone.

How do I enter a round?

Open the round from the schedule, pick a spec board that fits and lock it in. Once you're entered, the round page shows the CarX lobby details. Rooms hold 16 people, drivers and judges together, so entries close when it's full. Pop-up nights also close 4 hours before they start; series rounds close when the round starts.

What happens on the night?
  • Roll-through: everyone entered lines up in the lobby. The judges check each car's specs against its spec board and judge the liveries. Once you pass, you get ready with the other drivers.
  • Battles: tandem battles in a bracket, judged on the lines and zones posted for that track.
  • Driver of the Night: a vote on the round page by that round's judges and the drivers who raced in it, open for the night and the next day.

The rest is up to the host. Each event's house rules (bracket format, how the podium is decided, livery comp, judging) are on its round page. The Double Yellow Street League, for example, settles its podium with a top 3 showdown in front of its special host judges.

What if I don't agree with a call?

The judges have the final say. If the host switches on deliberation time, you can raise a concern about your run: you get one question, the judges answer on a short timer, and the call either stands or they order a rerun. Each event's house rules are on its round page.

How do points and standings work?

Every competition on the site scores league points: 4 for a win, 3 for second, 2 for third, and 1 for everyone else who races (passes roll-through). Your points count toward your driver tier and the standings, and your driver page shows every round you raced with the points you scored.

Your points also count for your team. They stay with you, and they stay with the team you raced for, even if you move teams later. Team points are how a team earns free events on Street Host.

What are driver tiers?

Your tier shows how far you've come in the league. It's on your driver card, your driver page and the Drivers list. Everyone starts in Bronze and moves up once they have everything the next tier asks for:

  • Bronze: everyone, from sign-up.
  • Silver: 12 points and 3 competitions driven.
  • Gold: 60 points, 25 competitions and 8 podiums.
  • Platinum: 200 points, 75 competitions and 20 wins.

A tier you've earned is never taken away. Gold and Platinum also need a Double Yellow Plus plan; reach them without one and you show as Silver until you claim it. See how many drivers are in each tier on the standings.

What are competition tiers?

Every series and pop-up night has a tier too, shown next to it on Events, the schedule and the round page. It keeps the racing fair: new drivers race new drivers, and the best race the best.

  • Your tier: always open to you.
  • One tier above yours: open too, so you can test yourself against the next level. A Bronze driver can enter Silver events, a Silver driver Gold, and so on.
  • Below your tier, or two or more above: not open to you. Events below your tier are for newer drivers.
  • Gold and Platinum competitions: need a Double Yellow Plus plan.

Teams

How do I join a team?

Pick the team on your profile. The team owner confirms you, and you show on their roster from then on. Nobody can confirm themselves.

I don't have a team. What now?

You can race without one. To find one, check Free agents: teams that are recruiting are listed there, and you can mark yourself as looking so owners can find you.

Can I start my own team?

Yes. Register your team and Mantis confirms you own it. The team owners' FAQ covers everything after that.

Discord

Do I need Discord?

Yes. You log in with it, announcements go out there first, and on race night you talk to the other drivers in your event's private voice channel.

How do I get my team role and channels?

Automatically. Once your team confirms you, you get your team's role and its private channels within a minute or two. If you're not in the server yet, tap Join the Discord on the site and it's sorted as soon as you join. If you leave the team, the role is removed.

Can I listen in on a race night?

No. Race-night voice is private. Sign up for a series and you get its role and its own private category on the Discord, under the team running it: an announcements channel, a paddock chat for everyone in the series, a results channel, and a drivers' and a judges' voice channel for each round, open from when entries open until the night is over. A pop-up night gets a drivers' and a judges' voice channel under the host team's name.

Only drivers who are signed up get the role and can join the drivers' channel, whatever team they're on, and only the judges can join theirs. You only ever see the event's channels, never the host team's own, and they're all removed when the event ends.

Everything else

I stream CarX. Can I get on the site?

Yes. Make a streamer page with your links and schedule. It shows on Streamers once Mantis approves it.

How do I become a judge?

Once your driver profile is approved, apply to judge and tell Mantis about your judging experience. When Mantis approves you, you get a judge page on the Judges tab, and your team can seat you as a judge at the rounds it hosts. Only approved judges can be seated.

Can I review a judge?

Yes, if you raced an event they judged. Open their page on the Judges tab, pick the event, give 1 to 5 stars and say how they judged. You get one review per event, and you can change it later. Everyone can read reviews, and the judge can reply once. Mantis hides reviews that are unfair or abusive.

How does the ideas board work?

The ideas board is where members tell us what the site should do next. Anything goes: a feature, a page, a fix, a change to how events work on the site.

  • Post an idea: log in, give it a short title and a few lines on what you'd like and why.
  • Vote: upvote the ideas you want, one vote each. Sort by Top to see what the league wants most.
  • Get an answer: Mantis marks every idea Open, Up next, Building now, Shipped or Not doing, so you always know where it stands.
  • Watch it happen: ideas that are Up next or Building now show on the roadmap on What's new, marked "Your idea".
  • Get the credit: when your idea ships, its update post on What's new says "You asked, we built it" with your name, and you earn the Shaped the League badge.

The most-voted ideas get looked at first.

What if something on the site is broken?

Report a problem and Mantis gets it straight away. A screenshot helps.
