Your team

How do I get my team on the site?

Register your team with its name and tag. Mantis confirms you own it, and it goes on the Teams list. Design your team page while you wait: it goes live the moment you're approved.

How do drivers join my team?

They pick your team on their profile, then wait for you on My team. You confirm or decline each one; nobody can confirm themselves. If you remove a driver, they're moved to No team and get a notice. Points they scored for you stay with the team.

What can I put in my team page's gallery?

Up to 6 photos and clips, added from Edit team page. Clips can be up to 30 seconds long (MP4, MOV or WebM, under 50 MB). The gallery plays as a slideshow: clips play muted, and visitors can open any photo or clip full screen, with sound for clips. The page background moves through your photos as visitors scroll.

Do new drivers get a welcome on the team page?

Yes. For their first week, drivers you confirm show in a New on the team section above the roster and get a New tag on their roster card. That includes drivers moving over from another team. Drivers coming back to a team they were on before aren't highlighted again.

How do I find new drivers?

Switch on Recruiting in your team settings and add a note about what you're after. Your team shows on Free agents, next to every driver without a team.

Can I hand the team to someone else?

Yes, from Team settings. The new owner has to be a confirmed driver on your team. You stay on as a driver; only the new owner or Mantis can hand it back.

New

Your team's home on Discord, built for you

The moment Mantis approves your team, the Double Yellow server gets a space for it. No admin work for you: the site keeps it in step with your roster.

Your team role

Every driver you confirm gets your Team TAG role automatically. Remove them and it's taken away. Roles are re-checked every few hours, so a lost role comes back on its own.

Your private category

Only your team can see it:

  • 🅿️ parked-up: team chat
  • 📣 represent: liveries, clips, wins
  • 🔧 tune-shop: builds and spec boards
  • 🔊 Jibber Jabber voice
  • 🏁 Practice Lobby voice
🏁 A category for every series you run

Named after your team and the series, and private to the people in it:

  • 📢 announcements and 🏆 results: you post, they read
  • 💬 paddock: chat for your drivers and judges
  • 🎙️ Drivers and ⚖️ Judges voice for each round, from entries opening until the night is over

It's yours to run: add and edit channels, pin and clear messages, and mute or move people in voice. Access follows sign-ups on the site, and it all clears away when the series ends.

🎙️ Private pop-up voice

Every pop-up you host gets a 🎙️ Drivers and a ⚖️ Judges voice channel in your category. Everyone signed up gets the event's role and joins Drivers, whatever team they're on; your judges join Judges. Each channel has its own lock, so they never see your team's channels, and nobody else can see or listen. Both are cleared away when the night is over.

Need more for a pop-up, like a text channel for your drivers? Ask Mantis on Discord and it gets made for you.

Discord questions

Do I have to set anything up on Discord?

No. Once your team is approved, the role, the category and the channels are made for you. If your team already has a role or category with the same name, the site uses it and never makes a second one.

What if one of my drivers didn't get the role?

They need to be in the server, on the same Discord account they log in to the site with, and confirmed on your team. Have them tap Join the Discord on the site; the role follows within a minute or two of joining.

Will it touch roles I give by hand?

No. The site only ever removes the team role it gave. Anything you or Mantis add by hand stays.

Can we get extra channels for an event?

For a series, add them yourself: you run its category, so you can make new channels in it and edit the ones it comes with. A pop-up gets a drivers' and judges' voice channel in your category; if it needs more, ask Mantis in the Discord and it gets set up for you.

Hosting events

What can my team host?

Two kinds of events:

  • A series: a run of scheduled competition rounds, usually six, so every driver in it competes six times. It has one spec board deadline and its own standings.
  • A pop-up night: a one-off competition outside any series, posted at least 2 days before it starts.

Nobody hosts a single round on its own. A one-off night is a pop-up.

How does my team get to host one?

Ask for it on My team under Host an event: pick a pop-up night or a series, the date, time and tier, and send it to Mantis. Once Mantis approves it, it's yours: set up each round and run race night from the live console.

  • Street Host (free, every team): spend the free events your team earns with team points. Every 12 team points earns a free pop-up night, and every 48 earns a free series instead.
  • Host plans: Pop-up Plus runs up to 4 pop-up nights a month, Series Plus runs one series at a time plus as many pop-ups as you like, and Host Plus runs as many as you like. See Plans.

Pop-up nights need 2 days' notice, and a series needs 14 so drivers can build their spec boards and practice.

What tier should our event be?

Every series and pop-up night has a competition tier, Bronze to Platinum, so drivers race others at their level. It shows on Events, the schedule and the round page.

  • Your team's level: most events match the tier most of your drivers hold.
  • A night for newer drivers: you can run a lower-tier event, like a Bronze night, to bring new drivers in.
  • Who can enter: drivers at your event's tier, and drivers one tier below it who want to test themselves against the next level. Drivers above your event's tier can't enter.
  • Gold and Platinum events: drivers need a Double Yellow Plus plan to enter.

Setting up your rounds

Where do I set up the rounds?

On My team, under Rounds to set up. Every round of your series is listed there, and your pop-up nights too, each with its own setup page. Once a course is ready, it's published, so drivers know it ahead of time.

What do I set up for each round?
  • Track and lines: from Mantis's track library (street and workshop maps, no competition tracks), with the lines and style worked out together.
  • Aerial photos: taken in-game, with the lines and zones marked.
  • Lobby: the CarX room details. Only entered drivers see them.
  • Judges: your house judges, picked from your team's drivers that Mantis has approved as judges. Drivers apply on the Judges tab. A room holds 16 people, drivers and judges included.
Can we bring our own house rules?

Yes, that's the point of hosting. Your judges bring their own flavor: a line, a style, a twist, and your own bracket format. Just keep it fair and reasonable, and switch on deliberation time if you want drivers to be able to question a call.

Host plans: run more competitions

Every team already hosts for free with Street Host, using the events it earns with team points. A host plan lets your team host whenever it likes, without earning them first. There are three, so you can start small and move up as your team runs more. Every result counts toward the league standings.

Host plan questions

When can I get a host plan?

The paid host plans are coming soon. Watch What's new or the Discord for the launch. You don't have to wait to host: every team is on Street Host, free, and can spend the events it earns with team points right now.

Do my drivers need to pay to race in my events?

No. Racing is free. A host plan is one plan for your team, and your drivers race on their free accounts.

Can my team host without a plan?

Yes. Every team starts on Street Host, the free way to host. Your team earns free events with its team points: every 12 team points earns a free pop-up night, and every 48 earns a free series instead. Every driver on your team scores team points each time they race: 4 for a win, 3 for second, 2 for third, and 1 for racing. An average team of three racing every week earns its first free pop-up night in about a month.

Spend them from My team under Host an event, and Mantis approves each one. Street Host runs up to 2 free pop-up nights a month and 1 free series at a time. If Mantis declines a request, or you withdraw it first, you get the free event back.

What does Host Plus give my drivers?

While your team is on Host Plus, monthly or yearly, every driver on your team gets 5 more garage slots on top of their own plan.

Can we move between host plans?

Yes, from your plan on your page. Moving up starts straight away, and you pay the difference for the rest of the month or year. Moving down starts when the time you've paid for runs out. Events you're already running always finish, whichever way you move.

Do my events get their own Discord channels?

Yes. Every series your team runs gets its own private category with announcements, paddock and results channels, plus drivers' and judges' voice channels for each round, and you run it. Every pop-up night gets private voice channels for your drivers and your judges in your team's category. Both are made for you, give everyone signed up an event role, and are cleared away when the event ends.

Are the two free months every year?

No, they're for your first year on a yearly plan. Your first year of Host Plus is $199, and after that it renews at $239.88 a year, the same as paying monthly. Pop-up Plus is $79.90 for the first year, then $95.88, and Series Plus is $129.90, then $155.88. The two free months are a first-year offer on every yearly Double Yellow Plus plan.

What is Legacy?

Our thank-you to the teams that support Double Yellow first. Buy yearly Host Plus in the first two months after it becomes available for purchase and you become a Legacy Owner:

  • Your price is locked forever. $199 your first year, then $239.88 a year for as long as you keep your plan. As the site grows and adds new tools, prices may go up for everyone else. Yours never does.
  • A Legacy Owner tag on your team page and your driver card.
  • A Legacy Driver tag on the driver card of everyone on your team during those two months, including drivers who join before the window closes. It stays with them even if they move to another team. Drivers who join after the window don't get it.

Monthly plans, Pop-up Plus and Series Plus aren't Legacy. The two months start on launch day; we'll post the exact closing date on What's new and the Discord.

What if I cancel?

Cancel any time, as easily as you signed up. Your plan stays active until the end of that calendar month, and then it ends.

  • Monthly plans: the month you cancel in is already paid for, so there's nothing more to pay and no refund.
  • Yearly plans: you get your money back for every month left in your year. For example, if you paid $199 for your first year of Host Plus and cancel 4 months in, you get 8 months back: $132.66.

Everything you've built stays yours: your team, your drivers, your history and every result. You just stop creating new series until you're back.

Legacy Owners: when your plan ends, so does Legacy. You lose your locked price and your Legacy Owner tag, and your drivers lose their Legacy Driver tags. If you come back later, it's at that day's price.

Want to host? Ask for a pop-up night or a series from My team. Street Host is free for every team.
