Get the app

Double Yellow works like an app on your phone. It has its own icon on your home screen, opens in its own window, keeps you logged in, and sends your notices as notifications.

Add it to your home screen

  • iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap the Share button (on newer iPhones it's in the ⋯ menu), then choose Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: open the site in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
  • Computer: in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right end of the address bar.

If you opened a link inside the Discord app, open it in Safari or Chrome first. Discord's built-in browser can't add sites to your home screen.

Turn on notifications

Open the app from your home screen and log in once. On your page, tap Turn on under Phone notifications, then tap Allow when your phone asks.

From then on, every new notice on your notices board also pops up on your phone, even when the app is closed. Tapping a notification opens that notice.

Choose what you get

Once notifications are on, you can switch each kind on or off on your page:

  • New events: A new series or pop-up night you can enter, and when its entries open.
  • Your rounds: Reminders before your rounds start and before entries close, plus new times, tracks, room details and courses.
  • Your team: Team messages, applications, switches and changes.
  • Spec boards: Boards approved, sent back or removed, and reminders before a series board is due.
  • Approvals and badges: Your profile, judge or streamer approval, badges and hosting requests.
  • Reviews and ideas: Judge reviews and replies, and updates on ideas you sent in.
  • Everything else: Any other notice on your board.

Anything you switch off still shows on your notices board. Your choices apply to every phone you've turned on.

Good to know

  • Is it in the App Store or Google Play? Not yet. Store versions are planned. The home-screen app is the same Double Yellow with every feature, so you don't need to wait for them.
  • Why do iPhones need the home screen? Apple only lets websites send notifications once they're added to the home screen and opened from there.
  • More than one phone? Turn notifications on from each phone or computer you use. You can turn any of them off on your page.
  • Stopped getting them? Check that notifications are allowed for Double Yellow in your phone's settings, then turn them off and on again on your page.
